About Us

St. Kevin Catholic School opened its doors in August of 1980. The school began with a total of eleven classrooms, two classrooms for grades first through fourth and one for grades fifth through seventh. St. Kevin School became fully accredited in April of 1988. Throughout the years, the school expanded to include two full classes per grade level from Kinder to eighth grade, and a pre-kindergarten program for three and four year olds consisting of two classes for each age level. In order to continue the challenging needs of the community, the school added the Excellence in Catholic Education for Life Program (EXCEL) which is a pull-out remedial program in reading and math. A learning center for 18 month old to two year old students opened in 2009. Currently St. Kevin educates approximately 734 students following the Archdiocese of Miami Curriculum Guide.

The mission of the school is: To assist the parent, the primary teacher in educating the child spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. The school shall enhance each child's God given talents to attain the student's potential and to successfully live the teachings of Christ.

The school is accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference and affiliated with the Association of Independent Schools of Florida and the Dade Association of Non-Public Schools. The school participates in many academic and non-academic activities in the community throughout the year. The eighth graders compete in various Academic Olympics at local Catholic high schools and continue to place within the top three schools. In 2009, St. Kevin was the first Catholic elementary school to join the Fairchild Challenge, a program sponsored by The Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Since joining the program the school has always met the challenge and has even placed in the top 3 in the last 3 years.

All of the teachers are university trained professionals certified to teach by the state of Florida. A low teacher turnover provides a secure and stable environment for the students and parents.

    Testimonials

    • Our family has been part of the St. Kevin family for 2 years, and what a wonderful experience it has been. From the teachers, to the other families, it really feels like home. My 2 and 4 year olds are learning so much and having a blast, with Christ at the center of it all. I look forward to making many memories with my kids and for my kids in this school.

    • I have been a part of the St. Kevin family since my daughter started PK3 in 2005. My son began with the Little Shamrocks program for PK2 in 2010. Both children have enjoyed a nurturing and spiritual environment while mastering the required academics. The children look forward to going to school and have already made many friendships that will last a lifetime! Our personal experience with the school has been excellent as well. As involved parents, we too have found our experience at St. Kevin a rewarding one where we have had an opportunity to play a role in making St. Kevin the best place it can be for us and our family. The Administration and teachers have been receptive, open, caring and professional. I highly recommend St. Kevin Catholic School!
